GN ReSound To launch New Platform In September

New Platform Just In Time For EUHA?

In an announcement on the 9th of August GN ReSound announced the launch of a new high end platform as reported by Reuters:

COPENHAGEN, Aug 9 (Reuters) – GN Store Nord plans to keep pace with developments in smart phone technology when it launches iphone-compatible hearing aids next month, the company said on Thursday.
Lars Viksmoen, head of the group’s hearing aids division ReSound, said the new premium hearing aids will be based on the 2.4 gigahertz (GHz) frequency used by smart phones such as Apple’s iPhone and other mobile electronic gadgets.

They announced that the new product would continue to use the 2.4 gigahertz connection frequency. So it looks like they will continue with Bluetooth despite the power drain issues. The Alera product has been a resounding, forgive the pun, success internationally and they are riding high. Reported financial results were excellent.

However all was not good as GN’s stock dropped the next day because of the announcement as reported by Bloomberg. It appears that the market was a little jittery at the execution risks of launching a new product.
